Rio wrap up.

Well the Olympics are now over. I would firstly like to congratulate all of the Australians that competed so respectfully for us back here. Some athletes will be disappointed some will be happy and then some will be medalists. This is the Olympic Games, its beautiful, its emotional and its raw. We all sit back here at home wishing and praying that our athletes do well but I think the most important thing is that we are proud no matter what. Athletes don’t just train for 4 years for the Olympics they have trained their whole lives to be on the big stage and no matter what, they deserve to be there.

This is the first time that I have really been able to sit down and enjoy the Olympics from a different perspective; I must say I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The emotion is intense being a spectator; I do not envy any friend, family member or fan watching from the sidelines. When you’re an athlete down on the field, its peaceful. No one is in your ear telling you what to do, if you’ve prepared well your body does it automatically, its easy.

The most exciting results for me is seeing our next generation, I feel its safe to say that when Tokyo 2020 comes around we are going to see champions like we have never seen before. They are tough, they are strong and they are hungry. I can’t wait to see them develop over the years and I cant wait to see the day when they step on the big stage again and shine so bright for Australia.

That’s it for now, I hope you all enjoyed cheering for your favorite athletes but don’t get too comfy we all know that the next four years will be around again in a blink of an eye.

Love,

Sally Pearson
